About meI am the Manuscripts Cataloging Librarian at The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, Pa. I grew up buying and reading the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew books and the monthly purchases at school from the My Weekly Reader paperback catalog, in addition to devouring the public library's copies of Charles Dickens' books for fun. My first adult book purchases as a teenager, which I still have, are paperback copies of Truman Capote's In Cold Blood, Shakespeare's Tragedies, and Shakespeare's Comedies.
About my libraryMy library is eclectic. I review professional literature concerning cataloging and digitization, and collect fiction and non-fiction to read across a wide area of subject interests and authors. Topics range from Bruce Springsteen, rock and folk music, science fiction, cyberfiction, Civil War, African American history, Florida history, horse racing, to cats. My favorite authors include Stephen King, Walter Mosley, Patricia Cornwell, Ray Bradbury, Janet Evanovich, Jasper Fforde, Laura Lippman, and Bill Bryson. Whenever I can, I get my books inscribed by the authors. I am more interested in reading the books than in collecting first editions.

I googled your title and came up with Susan Hamburger (where does the X come from?)! I am a retired Financial Officer of the IAEA, originally from Sacramento, living in Vienna. Way back when I was instrumental in computerizing the IAEA library and always loved books. I am now in the Executive Committee of the Museum für Völkerkunde (Museum of Ethnology) here in Vienna. I have been collecting books for some 50 years and specialize in Museum and Exhibition catalouges (ca. 7000), European history (ca. 1000 - esp. Habsburgs [German spelling, I refuse to spell it with p]), and photography (at least 700). I discovered LibraryThing last December and fell in love with it. I would like to catalogue the whole collection, paying special attention to the catalogues. I am entering as Tags both general descriptions (in slashes) and corporate entires (Museums, galleries, places of exhibition, etc.). I take most of the information from usual bibliographic information, but I consult the Internet (and write the museums) to ascertain additional venues and dates. I also examine the book and if there are one or a few main museum collections involved, I am listing those too!
Why am I telling you all this? I don't know if the TAGS should be used in this manner - but so far it has worked. I have even entered "see references", "see also references", etc. Could you take a look at my TAGS and let me know what you think? I am planning to give the whole catalogue collection to the Museum Library - they are already in my will! By the way, the Museum is located in the Winter Palace (Hofburg) of the Emperor and I have an office there!
Hoping to hear from you and if you are ever in Vienna seeing you!
