About meI'm 38-year-old writer currently living in Salt Lake City(I'm from San Francisco, originally). I'm the author of the YA novels STORY OF A GIRL (a 2007 National Book Award Finalist) SWEETHEARTS (a 2008 Cybils Finalist), and the forthcoming ONCE WAS LOST, all published by Little, Brown. I've also got short pieces in several anthologies. I like stories of everyday people going through the minor and major challenges and triumphs of everyday life.

About my libraryI suffer from LibraryThing envy when I see profiles with thousands of books, but egads, do y'all really have all those books in your houses? The majority of my reading comes from the public library, hence my relatively small collection here. Also, I've opted not to include our entire family library - just the books that are particular to my work and interests. As you'll notice, I've mostly got young adult fiction, books on writing, Christian living and spirituality, and mainstream novels. Oh yeah - and cook books. If I were to add my husband's books, you'd see more theology, education theory, our entire collection of classics, and a whole lot of thrillers.

I sent you a friends request- the kids at Northwest High Clarksville, TN are still talking about your visit earlier this month. Thank you once again!
I had just added your book *Sweethearts* to my library (an EXTREMELY large one--but no, they are not all in my house, I have an office too) and noticed that you were an LT author. I am one as well although unregistered as such. I just thought I'd say that, as one who reads a ton of YA books, I found *Sweethearts* one of those rare standouts, a truly original, compelling, and beautifully-written work. It's a book that raises questions that will stay with me, rather than just offering neat answers. In this I'd compare it to E. Lockhart's *Disreputable History...*, a very different recent book that still left me thinking.
I'm filled with admiration. Well done.
Most of the books in my library I don't own, but read from the public library. I believe LibraryThing is meant for the books you've read, not necessarily just the books you own.
I finished "Sweethearts" a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it. Looking forward to reading much more from you! :)

Yeah! Ava is actually a friend of mine, we used to work together at the New Yorker. She's brilliant!
