I absolutely loved Alone in the Kitchen with an Eggplant -- what a wonderful compilation of essays! Thank you!
Jenni, I wish I could remember where I first heard about "Alone in the Kitchen...," but I got myself a copy immediately and did so enjoy it. Ann Patchett was the initial draw for me, but what a great compilation of stories by authors I knew and others I didn't! Thanks for putting it out there! I am an editor/co-owner of a small, independent press in PA -- I mentioned your book to a book group the other day as the type of project I'd love to have the opportunity to do at some point in the future. Thanks for the work you do!
Read Alone/Eggplant several months ago and loved it. Hope you are planning more. Thanks.
Jenni, I'm trying to figure out if I knew you at Oberlin, but alas, I think perhaps I did not - I graduated in 1987 (college AND the con, thanks for asking). I loved "Alone in the kitchen with an eggplant", which I discovered by felicitous accident in my almost-local independent bookstore (in Wiliamsport, PA, about 30 minutes away from my place). As a huge Laurie Colwin fan, I actually recognized the origin of the title, and had to pick up and buy the book! And as a spinster and frequent solo cook, I enjoyed the book quite a bit (though I was disappointed, somehow, to see that so many of the authors were just temporarily solo with that eggplant...)
Good luck with your own writing.

Hey, congrats. You were a LibraryThing featured author today. I haven't seen your book for real yet, but I love the title and you may have the best purple cover this year... :)
