About meI am the director for a small Maine library. When I'm not caught up in my work, I focus my energy on my family, sports, needlework, and reading for fun. I'm married and we have a large extended family. My husband is manufacturer and small-business owner. He reads, works around the house, and plays the guitar in his spare time. Pets are a must - especially cats. We have a cat and an English Setter (cat:me - dog:husband). I'm a huge sports fan - primarily hockey, Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, Canadiens, Lewiston Maineiacs and anything Notre Dame. Love spending time at the cottage in Harpswell - the definition of contentment and perfect sunsets.

All of the books with asterisks are ones that I read for two MLIS (U. of So. Carolina, Maine cohort, 2008) classes.

The USC MLIS program was such an adventure for me. Not only did the program give me a new career but it brought me great knowledge, new friends, and a lot of wonderful reading that I never would have done if not required in my classes.

About my libraryI have a ton (literally!!)of books - read and unread. Since starting school the "unread" pile became bigger than the "read" pile, but I just kept buying anyway. I am an avid needleworker (at least I was before starting school and my job), so I have a great collection of needlework books, magazines, pamphlets, charts, and (of course) unfinished projects. I have about 1000 books in my needlework library. I guess it's time to reinforce the floor...Wait, maybe not! I'm now a proud Kindle owner so I'm not adding to the visible piles, just the credit card balance! Well, that's really not true........

I love your username!! I love my clothesline with a passion.
If I were director of a library I would find it hard to control myself around all those books! As it is I am on this site, Amazon and town library site daily. It was not always like this....when I HAD to read, and could not choose what I read (i.e. long winded novels in Gothic script) it was not as enticing. Now I am more concerned that I will find all those brilliant 5 star books out there, waiting to be discovered (and not necessarily on the best seller list, either).

Best regards
harriet
irishwasherwoman:

I saw your new group Knit-erature, and thought I would let you know that there are other very similar groups which you might be interested in. I see you've been here as long as I have, so you probably already know this, ...but... The Groups search just doesn't work. The best way to find groups is: click the Groups tab, then go to the ~Complete groups list~ at the top right, then use your browser's ~find on this page~ function to search for a specific interest. Searching that way, using the search words “knit”, "needle", and "ravel" yielded these other groups you may want to check out.

Oooooo - Maine! My best vacation ever was a road trip up highway 1. Love Maine! Love LT! Do not, however, love knitting. :-)

Hi there....fellow Mainer...Congratulations on completing your MLS and landing a good job. I saw your post on the MLS thread, and had to stop by and say hello. I too am a cat person, and while not the librarian, I'm the 'tech goddess' at So thom Pl up here in the midcoast. I have an MLS, from years ago at Cath U, and love being able to keep my fingers in the library world while enjoying retirement in Maine. I'm also a needlework addict, so I truly LOVE audio books since that allows me to engage in two of my favorite activities at the same time. Would love to add you to my 'friends' list. Tina
