Hi Mike,

Checked out your gorelets site (very cool) and read your intro to 100 Jolts &, despite my less than encyclopedic exposure to horror, I completely concur that the short-story format is the beating heart of...or, should I say, unbeating heart (heh heh heh) of horror. You mention Poe's The Cask of Amontillago...and are so correct re. Poe's aims. I mean, what a universally chilling fear Poe tapped into -- being buried, no, Freemasonry'd alive -- and that he wrote it almost a century prior to the term paranoid schizophrenia even being coined, & yet described the perpetrator's diagnosable mental disorder precisely, is further testament to his genius, and to the power of the short horror genre.

I promise to get my hands on a copy of 100 Jolts soon.

Awesome. Several of the titles were added to the WPF manual, which was fantastic since we romance and chick lit people needed some more recent material to use.

Have you read Lance Olsen's "Sewing Shut My Eyes"? There were a few gems, but pretty adolescent overall.

If you're a geek for loving LT, then I must be too! We actually started our catalog with the idea that if something ever happened to our things, we wouldn't even realize what we'd lost or needed to replace. I probably acquire another one every week or so, just from browsing, and of course since my husband and I are both in grad programs there are always required texts - Matt's theology books take up more space than my novels. The down side of having such a great selection is that when you move (like we're doing this week) you have to take them all with you. Luckily, we're just going across the parking lot to a bigger apartment this time - in part to accommodate all the books! But I like seeing who else has my books, or similar ones.
