About meMy earliest memories are of my childhood small-town library where the floors were wide, wooden planked and the walls were high -- reaching to the top of the building where dusty windows let in a speck of light. Alice Blake, the town librarian was my first hero. She patiently taught me to read and I spent many Saturday mornings in her company.
My love of learning influenced my career choice as a publications adviser at a university in Bethlehem, PA.
About my libraryprimarily historical novels
I appreciate the art of J.W. Waterhouse, English history and carousel animals.

Thank for the link to the Sherman Alexie review. I might recommend it to my book group for our short story book for 2010. Regards, Jan

I wanted to pop over and congratulate you for your HOT REVIEW on "The Bear's Embrace: A Story of Survival". Very well done my dear.
Hope things are good for you these days. We are much better here and life is looking good again. Take care, my friend.
God bless.

Here's the Waterhouse:

For at least a fortnight I've had a nasty nagging feeling that there was *something* that finished in early Sept that I was meaning to see and couldn't for the life of me think what it was - like an itch that you can't reach! Relieved to see I have til the 13th, so I may be able to go from work next week if I'm lucky.
if I do get there, I'll be sure to send you a proper update.

[Band of Brothers] by Stephen Ambrose
[Beyond Band of Brothers] by Major Dick Winters
[The Conquerors] by Michael Beschloss
[Both Sides of the Beach] by Edmund Blandford
[The Last Escape] by John Nichol and Tony Rennell
[The Last Battle] by Cornelius Ryan
and his latest favorite: [The Day of Battle] by Ridk Atkinson. Appaerently this is part two of a trilogy, the first title being [Army at Dawn].
The book links don't seem to be working here, so I included all authors. Hope this includes some your husband hasn't yet read.

I saw you are from Bethlehem. My parents live there and I call it my 2nd home. I'm guessing by your email address you work at Lehigh. I enjoy visiting at the holidays w/ all the "Christmas City's" decorations.
