About meInitially I started cataloging my books on Library Thing so I would know exactly how many books there were in my very large TBR pile. I hoped that by knowing how many unread books there were in my apartment it would curb my book buying.( I buy 2-3 times as many books in a year as I actually read) It hasn't worked.
My favorite genres are fantasy (esp YA fantasy), graphic novels and literary fiction.Over the past year I've started reading alot of mysteries. My favorite subject matter includes books, dragons, libraries, the arctic/antarctic, the plague, OCD, math and magic.
I am a registered nurse specializing in pediatrics and pediatric research. I'm considering going back to university for a masters degree in either Nursing Informatics or Information and Library Science with a medical library concentration.
Besides books, my other interests include music, travel, knitting (I'm not very good), holistic medicine and obsessing over various television shows - Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Doctor Who, Pushing Daisies and Freaks and Geeks.
About my libraryI like to collect publishers series -- Persephone books, New York Review Children's Books, Collector's Wodehouse, etc. I also collect graphic novels, illustrated children's books and books about New York City.
The rating system I use for my library has nothing to do with the relative literary merits of any given book. The ratings I use indicate how much I liked the book. A 5 star rating refers to books I loved or books I found particularly informative. Also, all the books I loved and continually re-read as a child are rated 5 stars. 3 and 4 star books are good, 4 star books better and potentially re-readable. If I didn't finish a book I leave it unrated -- unless I was close to the end before I gave up.

Was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Saw you liked Butcher Boy, and I thought you might like my novel since it's also about a disturbed adolescent and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:
