About meYou can sample the first chapter of Underground, the debut novel by my writing partner, June Hutton, at:

If you've been following the news about my writing group SPiN, you'll already know that Underground was published Spring 2009 and is the last of our three novels to come out. Now we're all working on new projects. Hooray! Check out our group website at http://www.spinwrites.com An article about SPiN can be found at the Globe and Mail on-line, http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/s...)
My own novel Conceit (http://www.librarything.com/work/3398865) is about the daughter of the English poet, John Donne. AbeBooks chose it as one of the Top Ten Hottest New Canadian Books of 2008 - thank you AbeBooks! http://www.abebooks.com/Canada/Features/.... There's a bookclub guide, a blog and a lot more info at my website, http://www.marynovik.com. Also a 17th-century backgrounds page and links to reviews and interviews like the one Sandra Gulland did with me at her blog, http://17thcenturyresearch.blogspot.com/...
If you get a chance to read Conceit, I'd love to hear what you think of it! You can get in touch with me here or via the Contact page on my website, http://www.marynovik.com/contact.asp

Have you had success with your other novels and are able to write full-time now?
Sorry for all the questions.

I greatly enjoyed your book [Conceit] although my reading was interrupted for 2 weeks of holiday. I got it from the library and do not like to take library books travelling for historic reasons. I plan to buy the book for my Book Club (we exchange rather than sharing just one at a time). I enjoyed the rhythm of the language and the characters were real... I particularly enjoyed the relationship between the sisters and the chapters written from the mother's POV. I so envy your talent!

Yes, you did, and I'm reading Conceit right now! I'm also going to be on Gail Anderson-Dargatz's forum this Saturday (as a surprise guest), so was reading over old forums of which you were a part!
You live in Vancouver, don't you? I would love to get together for drinks and book talk one evening. Let me know if that's something you could fit in.
Cheers
Hannah

I'm new to this also. It seems we have a lot of books in common. I've just finished The Cellist of Sarajevo (highly recommend it) and Cockroach (made me wince). Quickly read Sail by James Patterson, like eating jello. Just started The Condition. It seems like it will be a real meal deal.
I will definitely look for your book...it sounds intriquing and I do have a gift certificate for Chapters!

Honoured to be "friended"! Your book has been on my to-read list for at least a year and I promise I will get to it!! It sounds exactly up my alley :)
