Lyn- I got so many packages this Thursday and Friday that the mailman had to put them on the porch because they wouldn't fit in the mailbox. I actually keep all my BM books at my office since my stash of envelopes and tape, etc. is there, and I use the post office on campus. The clerk asked me on Friday if I knew anyone in the US since I always seem to be sending overseas. And I'm excited about the BM Angel logo on my profile too. It took me a while to figure out how to get it; I think I may have gotten the HTML coding off your profile to add it.

Can't help you re my list - not my genre at all. I bought them for my friend and for swapping.
Guess you'll have to consult Amazon or LT or Goodreads. Have you noticed there seems to be more feedback and reviews on Goodreads? But it's hard to access people's lists unless thay are you friends. You can follow them though. Don't know, haven't really got my head around it yet.

Really looking forward to the Sarah Dunant ('fraid it's a borrowed copy so can't offer that) after Guernica (50 pgs to go!) and In the Kitchen, which was also a slog.
Then Incendiary - I loved The Other Hand.

No, I picked up a trade PB size, which I'm keeping but happened upon a small one, which I bought for you. I was hoping you'd be happy - I was very pleased with myself!!

Yes, last day today - a total of 4 days and I've spent a fortune!!
My son came into the spare room today and saw the stacks that I'd been hiding. Ooops!

I've bought a load for my friend here but I don't need so many for her so the extras will go for swapping.
I'll copy you a list and you can skim off any you fancy - she won't be any the wiser!!

My profile pics do seem to have a mind of their own!
I haven't made them any bigger but one time I came on they had split themselves so only 4 showed per row - and now they seem to be 6!!

I have completely stalled on Guernica, lots of ppl seem to think it's great but some of us are struggling with it (have been reading it for an on-line BG and a local one). That'll definitely be up for swap in the near future (if I ever finish it!!)

And, no, still have to go in my son's room for DR a/c - haven't tried your fix yet though. It's having a serious effect on my Mooches, very few outstanding now compared with usual :(

Absolutely DELIGHTFUL!

Thank you so much for the very sweet and thoughtful animated card. Watching all of the action really did cheer me up - and I loved the music, too.

It WAS in my inbox, but I must have overlooked it yesterday. I have 98 unread messages because I haven't been doing too much on here. Tummy troubles now, but the fever's finally gone. Yay!

Hi Lyn - Just read your lovely review of The Vintner's Luck. I finished the book last night (it had been on my tbr pile for a long long time)and felt your review echoed my sentiments exactly. I have the sequel, The Angel's Cut, which came out earlier this year and feel like diving straight into it!

Just looked at your WL, most of the authors are unknown to me but I've listed the ones you're looking for 2 or more books from - if I get books you already have I can always Mooch them or give them to my friend here who reads your sort of books rather than mine!

I noticed you'd listed a book by Jennifer Donnelly, The Wild Rose - I think you mean The Winter Rose - there's no Wild Rose listed on Amazon. I have a copy of that on my tbr and I'll put your name on it but I'd keep searching as it could be a LONG WAIT!!

I can't fit Girl in a Blue Dress into my reading schedule right now but hopefully soon.

Just thought I would pay you a virtual visit and get an update on your recent bookish pursuits. Great review of the Gaiman and you have four thumbs already....well done! Liam and I were in the bookshop the other day and he has shown interest in this novel and it is also included in the BooksAlive campaign which is currently running. So I think I will get his for him and it will be one we can both read.
I finished reading The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and a five star book for me. Loved it for its page turning quality and cant wait to read the next two books when I have caught up on bookgroup reads. I have The Girl Who Played with Fire on the shelf and have ordered The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest from Booktopia as it is reduced to $19.99 so even with postage a saving on the full bookshop price. I am currently reading Sophie's Choice by William Stryon and loving it and I know I will be giving this one a crown of stars also. I saw the film many years ago starring Meryl Streep and I think I will look for it again.
BTW I have been watching the first season of True Blood and have one disc left to watch. I was a bit hesitant as I have only read the first book but the first series only covers this first book and the second season is several months away from release here in Australia so that gives me time to catch up on the reading. It is great and very adults only with an R rating. Very funny, sexy and romantic and interesting exploring the vampire myth. I googled the show and good to see that a third season has been confirmed.

A 98 year old woman in the UK wrote this to her bank.
The bank manager thought it amusing enough to have it
published in the Times.

Dear Sir,
I am writing to thank you for bouncing my cheque with
which I endeavoured to pay my plumber last month. By my
calculations, three nanoseconds must have elapsed
between his presenting the cheque and the arrival in my
account of the funds needed to honour it. I refer, of
course, to the automatic monthly deposit of my Pension,
an arrangement, which, I admit, has been in place for
only thirty eight years. You are to be commended for
seizing that brief window of opportunity, and also for
debiting my account £30 by way of penalty for the
inconvenience caused to your bank.

My thankfulness springs from the manner in which this
incident has caused me to rethink my errant financial
ways. I noticed that whereas I personally attend to
your telephone calls and letters, when I try to contact
you, I am confronted by the impersonal, overcharging,
pre-recorded, faceless entity which your bank has
become. From now on, I, like you, choose only to deal
with a flesh-and-blood person.

My mortgage and loan payments will therefore and
hereafter no longer be automatic, but will arrive at
your bank by cheque, addressed personally and
confidentially to an employee at your bank whom you must
nominate. Be aware that it is an offence under the
Postal Act for any other person to open such an
envelope. Please find attached an Application Contact
Status which I require your chosen employee to complete.
I am sorry it runs to eight pages, but in order that I
know as much about him or her as your bank knows about
me, there is no alternative. Please note that all
copies of his or her medical history must be
countersigned by a Solicitor, and the mandatory details
of his/her financial situation (income, debts, assets
and liabilities) must be accompanied by documented
proof.

In due course, I will issue your employee with PIN
number which he/she must quote in dealings with me. I
regret that it cannot be shorter than 28 digits but,
again, I have modelled it on the number of button
presses required of me to access my account balance on
your phone bank service. As they say, imitation is the
sincerest form of flattery.

automated answering service. While this may, on
occasion, involve a lengthy wait, uplifting music will

Regrettably, but again following your example, I must
also levy an establishment fee to cover the setting up
of this new arrangement.

Hello Lyn,

ah yes... cookbooks....! :D A friend put me on to Bill Granger's books recently. Fortunately my local library stocked most of them so I got to try them out. And then the Book Depository had a few of them at reduced prices AND the Ozzie dollar was up, and all of a sudden before I knew it a few cookbooks found their way into my Book Depository shopping basket! ;D

I see you've added some AWW cookbooks. I started collecting them when I got married, in fact, we got some as wedding presents and I still use them so much so that my copy of the original 'Cakes & Slices' is starting to fall apart. The reprinted/updated edition is good but doesn't have nearly as many recipes as the original one.

Yeah, about that book....first off, YA, which I can sometimes tolerate, but NOT well-written at all. I was trying to think back to my YA self (uhhh, since you asked, about 30 years ago!) and consider whether it would have cut it for me back then, and sadly, I think that it would have. Which probably explains why I'm the only one, I think, to give it one lowly star on LT.

I don't mind sending just a single book, but two books works for me. I just sent a single book to the UK the other day and I was surprised at how little it cost. But it's even better if it helps you to get 2 books that you otherwise could not have gotten.

My unsure collection is books I'm not sure if want to keep. I read a lot of books that are part of a trilogy, and usually if the first book is interesting, but not great, I might want to read the other three to make a final decision on keeping them. If you find anything you like in my unsure collection, let me know, I usually don't keep them.
