About meIt is hard for me to really talk about myself in these little sections without sounding positively bonkers. I am a sweet Southern girl with unusual tastes. I love sports yet I love to read. I hate reality tv but love Anime. I love going to the library but my county libraries never have the books I want. They never order the books I want. Wonder why...

About my librarySince I was in middle school, I have become utterly enchanted with fantasy/sci fi novels. I also like classic literature such as books by Mark Twain but who doesn't? And although it sometimes pains me to day this, I do like some pop fiction such as books by Sophie Kinsella and Jennifer Weiner. Such easy reads when I'm not in the mood for reading my fantasy novels which require a little more concentration. I have books in my library that I have not read and I wanted to add them to list of complete reads. Funny, some of these books cannot be found at the library.

I'm not spending much time anywhere right now. We have this week and next with students and that's it! I'm also working on finishing up my gifted endorsement which means two papers, one presentation, and a 3 1/2 gifted camp over the next three weeks. ACK!!

I need a vactaion!

Have a great week! Do something nice for yourself.
Cindy
sorry for taking so long to send your member giveaway book - mea culpa! i will be taking it to the post office today....
I did love Dawn by Octavia Butler! It was a great book; I did not want to see it end. I will be reading more of her books. I have a couple from the library.
Happy Birthday!

We got a little snow here, but not as much as North Georgia. Stay warm!
We're doing a group read of Uhura's Song in this tread. I just got my copy from the library. Join us if you have time!

Have a fun weekend.
Hey! I'm good. Staying busy at school, but you know how that is. I feel like I don't have time for much of anything else. I was asked to help chaperon a group of Gifted Language Arts students to a production of Wicked. I am SO excited! We're going in April and have great seats.

How about you? How are things going?
Hey sunny!

so good to hear from you... happy new year to you too!
I think the inkheart movie looks okay.. I am not a huge fan of movies.. and I did love the book
so? who knows. I have wondered how you are doing :)

I had two of my sons home for the holidays.. it was nice. I have to go back to work tomorrow so I am feeling sorry for myself a bit... lol
what have you been up to??
Well, hello there! I had a great New Year, very tame. How about you? Everything good so far? Staying busy? (Ha, I know the answer to that one!)
Can you request it from another library? I do that all the time here. Is your library a PINES library? I know you can get it through Pines. Let me know!
No snow, yet. It's supposed to be really cold tomorrow. How about you? Snow there?
Great! I hope you like the book and I'm looking forward to hearing your opinion.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
opps - strong, not stron as I typed below! :P)
I think you should try Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson. It's fantasy with a stron female lead character. Brandon is a LibraryThing author. If you like Mistborn, there are two sequels you can read!

Have a great tomorrow!
Cindy
Thanks for your kind words! I hope you find something you like in my library! I'm doing well, staying busy. How about you? Things going good?

What sort of book are you looking for? I'll be glad to help you find one.

Hey sunny!

Sorry it took so long for me to reply...
I have been crazy busy and then crazy lazy.

I am okay.. have an injured shoulder that is making life tough
but will see to it on tuesday. finally.. lol

I have not even been keeping up with my usual reading pace, but
I did just read Grange House. Victorian.. entertaining.

I will pick something new today.

Glad to hear that you have been getting some ER books.. sorry one is boring :D

Well take care and keep in touch when you can
kath
This week I have March by Geraldine Brooks..
And The Observations by Jane Harris... The Wise Woman by Philippa Gregory... and First Ladies my Margaret Truman..
They all look good, but I am in bit of a reading funk.. haven't cracked a book in days...

I have a few that I have to review too... and I am just not in the mood!

What about you?
Yup - the publisher is going to send you another copy!
I just love it when someone else enjoys a book that I have enjoyed in the past!
So glad you read that one.

I see that you added Son of a Witch, did you read Wicked? If so, did you like it?
I have it on my RBR mountain...

k
I feel your pain! We haven't had much sun here either. I love rain, but I'm going to have to get a boat to go to work!

Maybe it will clear up soon. :)
I work at a aschool.. and I have less time to read during the school year too,

sigh..

I am sue that book will be one that you remember. Let me know when you finish, ok?
k
Hello! We have had lots of rain and wind since Thursday. The sun has been out some today, but not alot. We don't have any damage, everything is just wet! :)

How about you? Did it get that far into North Georgia?
Fantastic! That is a wonderful book. Do you grok it?
I loved Michael. I have read that one so many times.

Heinlein is fairly timeless... I like his work..

let me know how you feel after you are finished with it ..
it is really something.
:)
k
could it have been a de Lint??!!
I have read a couple of Octavia Butlers books.. I liked her too. I keep meaning to check and see which I have read so I can look for more.
I like how she has strong women in her books.

I do not like graphic novels.. too much going on there for me.
Have you read Stranger in a Strange Land or any other Hienlien?
He used to be a fave of mine...

:)
yay on you!!! did you like it?

I had a few ARCs come in, and have reviewed three of them in the last week.
The Necklace was very good..I gave it to my sister. I think she will like it.

I just read another Iris Johansen thriller. I also read Ellen Foster. Short, excellant.

I read a book or two a day when I am off from work.. but I am going back next week..
so during the school year I usually only mange two or so a week.. too weary..

Let me know what you pic up next. Tell me.. what are your fave books/authors ?
k
I had a mostly good weekend. I went to a friends party, and a band we like was there playing..
I didn't stay long, I am not a party person. I read a few books, and played online :)
how about you?

( sorry that Omens still isn't working for you.. maybe stop again and try in a few years?
or give up completely and try something else?

k
yep...Charles deLint.

I love his books. Maybe your library will have something of his for you to try?
I am trying to think of one to suggest, but I like them all so much.
Try something from his Newford books....maybe?

let me know if you decide to try him ok?
k
I am a bit more comfortable with it. Still can't figure out how to use the spellcheck thing with no right click..
I didn't set it up for that .. I want to learn the other way. So I am stuck on that one..
I have not yet uploaded music or pics, or vids.. that is my next thing... maybe tomorrow.

Have you ever read anything by deLint?

you seriously should
:)

now.. what did you get at the library?
k
I read and enjoyed Good Omens.. That is the only Gaiman that I liked. I used to take them from my sons shelves and read them.. he is a fan.

I am reading Gap Creek... so far not being pulled into that one, but I am only 30 pages or so in. It is not what I wanted to read next, but I wan influenced by a thread...lol

Nothing much new going on.. a nice quiet day.. hoping for a nice storm.
:)
LOL! I pretty much just added everyone I could think of whose posts I enjoyed and seemed like a cool person as a friend, then went back and did the same for their Libraries. I took a peek into everyone's, but didn't have the time to actually STUDY anyone's Library in depth.
I really didn't do much on the 4th, but it was nice. I did see the fireworks and had good food! How about you?

Thanks for adding me to your "interesting libraries" list!
Welcome to the Green Dragon. I notice you like Octavia Butler. I discovered her writing earlier this year and she has been blowing my mind. It's good to find someone else who has heard of her (no one in Australia has, apparently).
This site is a little overwhelming at first but it is awesome. Glad to see you here.

Carrie
Hi, I noticed you love anime. Teenauthor is a LTer that also loves anime. You may have a lot in commen. See you in Green Dragon.
